“…Casual inspection of the family support literature in disabilities yields a diverse array of services: all forms of specialist care, respite care, social support networks, information dissemination, specialized therapy and service coordination, logistical assistance, in-home personal care, home modifications, and specialized recreation and leisure activities, among others. Globally, the most common forms of support are the income maintenance programs in the form of social insurance, pensions, and disability benefits (Ellis et al, 2002;Jacobs, 1994;Kamerman & Gabel, 2010). The Family Needs Survey (FNS) developed by Bailey and Simeonsson (1988) has been adapted and validated across multiple different disability populations and provides a useful framework for conceptualizing needs at the population level.…”
