16‐Element circular polarised antenna array based on sequential arrangement of non‐identical disc patches

Abstract: A circular polarised antenna array based on the recursive application of the sequential rotation architecture is presented. The first level sequential arrangement is applied to a set of four non-identical slightly detuned patches, resulting in a broadband improper array. At the second level, the sequential arrangement is applied to four identical first-level sub-arrays, regularising the structure. Experimental validations confirm a gain exceeding 10 dB from 5.35 to 7.25 GHz, with a maximum of 13 dB. Global ban… Show more

“…[17][18][19][20][21] Furthermore, it can be reiterated in cascade, achieving outstanding performances. [22][23][24] In the most general case, a CP array implemented according to the SRA approach consists in a set of N antennas geometrically rotated and arranged as an uniform circular array. Each element is fed with a signal of the same amplitude, but with a linearly progressive phase such that each antenna has a delay equal to Δϕ = 2π/N with respect to the preceding one.…”

“…Over the past decades, there are many dual-polarized antenna arrays with various types of antenna topologies have been proposed. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] Two orthogonal L-probes is used to excite two orthogonal modes of the dualpolarized antennas as the general method achieving dual polarization performance. 2,3 Traditional dualpolarized antennas, 4,5 as one classic antenna type, are always employed to achieve dual polarizations.…”

“…However, the profiles of these antennas are high. Microstrip antenna has the advantage of light weight, low profile, and low cost for easy fabrication, [4][5][6] which are good candidates. Therefore, in the past few decades, extensive research has been conducted on dual-polarized microstrip antennas.…”
