18 Diabetic Retinopathy and Diabetic Macular Edema

Abstract: Diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema result from chronic damage to the neurovascular structures of the retina. The pathophysiology of retinal damage remains uncertain but includes metabolic and neuroinflammatory insults.
