1H nuclear magnetic resonance-based extracellular metabolomic analysis of multidrug resistant Tca8113 oral squamous carcinoma cells

Abstract: Abstract.A major obstacle of successful chemotherapy is the development of multidrug resistance (MDR) in the cancer cells, which is difficult to reverse. Metabolomic analysis, an emerging approach that has been increasingly applied in various fields, is able to reflect the unique chemical fingerprints of specific cellular processes in an organism. The assessment of such metabolite changes can be used to identify novel therapeutic biomarkers. In the present study, 1 H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrosco… Show more

“…Metabolites that influence group discrimination among appressoria development and mycelium could be evaluated by referring to VIP [Figure 3(b) and Table 1]. VIP is variable of important projection depicts most important variable sufficient for class discrimination and VIP value more than 1 indicates significant variable that responsible for clustering of 0 h, 8 h, 24 h and mycelia (Wang et al, 2015). From 43 identified compound, 30 metabolites were significantly influenced separation of group based on PLS-DA model (Table 1).…”

“…The metabolic impact of OXA on the polar extracts of hepatocellular carcinoma cells was studied by NMR metabolomics, 27 and that of carboplatin (in combination with other drugs) on the exo-metabolome of oral squamous carcinoma cells. 28 A very recent paper by Ann Gil described comparatively the effects of cisplatin and oxaliplatin on human osteosarcoma cells; no major differences in the resulting patterns of metabolomic alterations were highlighted. 29 Upon considering the available literature, we realized that no systematic investigation yet existed aimed at comparing the metabolic effects of cisplatin, carboplatin, and oxaliplatin in the same cancer cell line as a function of the time of treatment.…”
