Abstract: BackgroundIn patients with bacteremia, delay in appropriate therapy is associated with higher morbidity and mortality. Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) reduces the time to identification (ID) to approximately 30 minutes.
