“…A previous study by A. de la Fuente characterized the transcriptome profile of oocytes (OC) and cumulus cells (CC) derived from immature (MI) and in vitro‐matured (MII) cumulus‐oocyte complexes (COC) using ordinary RNA‐seq and found that the up‐regulated differentially expressed genes (DEG) in OC‐MII were mainly involved in the regulation of cellular metabolic processes, component organization and biogenesis, and nucleic acid‐binding, whereas the down‐regulated DEGs are related to organelle, nuclear and membrane‐enclosed lumen, nucleoplasm, and nucleolus (de la Fuente et al, 2021). The dynamics of gene expression patterns in equine cumulus cells during in vivo maturation (IVV) and in vitro maturation (IVM) were further characterized in another research using RNA‐seq (de la Fuente et al, 2023). While using the Smart‐seq2, our study provides more information about the expression patterns of mRNAs and lncRNAs in equine GV and MII oocytes.…”
