Abstract:], p ¼ .05) and a history of prior port thrombosis (OR ¼ 3.84, 95%CI [0.79-18.62], p ¼ .10) were possible risk factors for complications in repeat port placement in univariate logistic regression analysis. Conclusions: Placing a new port on the same side of chest wall as the prior port may increase the risk of complications compared to placement in the opposite side. Repeat port placement on the opposite side of chest wall is advised for patients with a history of port-related venous thrombosis.
