3,6'‐disinapoyl sucrose attenuates Aβ1‐42‐ induced neurotoxicity in Caenorhabditis elegans by enhancing antioxidation and regulating autophagy

Abstract: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease associated with ageing. The main clinical manifestation of AD patients is cognitive dysfunction and memory deterioration. The pathological features in the AD brain are senile plaques composed of β-amyloid (Aβ) peptide, neurofibrillary tangles composed of hyperphosphorylated tau and neuron loss. 1,2 Although the increasing number of AD patients and the high cost of treatment bring heavy burden to society and families, there are no effective tre… Show more

“…As we all know, ROS played a negative role in longevity (Sanz, 2016;Dilberger et al, 2019;Huang et al, 2021) and paralysis (Tang et al, 2022), and the aggregation of Aβ (1-42) will lead to the accumulation of ROS, which will affect the onset of paralysis and life span (Ewald, 2018;Kalmankar et al, 2021). Our results showed that exendin-4 reduced ROS, which was beneficial to prolong life and improve paralysis.…”

“…Over the past few decades, an increasing number of studies have reported the components in the aqueous extract and the serum of the single plant drug in JKZP ( Li et al, 2008 ; Yun et al, 2018 ; Hou, 2019 ; Qu et al, 2020 ; Yang et al, 2020 ; Zhao et al, 2020 ), which are aligned with prior research, and certain components that exhibit noteworthy neuroprotective activities ( Feng et al, 2017 ; Wang et al, 2020a ; Tang X. et al, 2022 ; Lu et al, 2022 ). Nevertheless, research reports regarding the analysis and identification of compounds in the whole prescription of JKZP require further elaboration.…”

“…The compound 3,6′-disinapoyl sucrose possesses the properties of anti-oxidative stress ( Shi et al, 2015 ; Tang X. et al, 2022 ), counteracting glutamate excitotoxicity ( Hu et al, 2014 ), enhancing neuroplasticity ( Hu et al, 2010 ), and promoting neurogenesis ( Wang et al, 2021 ). Therefore, it was frequently employed to treat conditions such as ischemic stroke, insomnia, amnesia, and depressive disorders.…”

“…The metabolites of KXS are the real material basis for its efficacy ( Yi et al, 2020 ). Among the metabolites in KXS, many of them have antioxidant activity ( Xiao et al, 2020 ; Zhong et al, 2020 ; Lyu et al, 2021 ; Balakrishnan et al, 2022 ; He et al, 2022 ; Tang et al, 2022 ). For example, 3,6′-disinapoylsucrose, a metabolite of Polygalae Radix, has a protective effect against Aβ 1-42 -induced pathological damages, which may be associated with the reduction of Aβ deposition and anti-oxidation ( Tang et al, 2022 ).…”
