Abstract: PurposeRecent data show that the Ly-6Chi monocyte subpopulation transports intracellular Listeria monocytogenes (Lm) into the brains of systemically infected mice. However, it is not clear whether peripheral or CNS infection triggers these monocytes to enter the brain.
