321 Deletion of hypoxia-inducible factor prolyl 4-hydroxylase 2 in FoxD1-lineage mesenchymal cells leads to congenital truncal alopecia

Abstract: Androgenetic alopecia is a common form of pattern hair loss, characterized by miniaturized hair follicles (HFs) at the front and parietal scalp, while hairs on the occipital scalp are preserved. Moreover, different body sites exhibit distinct types and patterns of HFs and understanding the molecular basis for this heterogeneity is important to design targeted treatment strategies. The Wnt signalling pathway and its Dickkopf (Dkk) inhibitors have been suggested to regulate HF type and patterning. We have previo… Show more

“…In addition, the Notch signaling pathway mainly determines the fate of stem cells by ensuring an optimal proliferative environment and activating ligands during the anagen phase. Unlike Wnt signaling, stem cells spontaneously choose to differentiate and migrate upward and form a large number of epidermal cells to repair the epidermis . The Shh signaling pathway is mainly involved in morphogenesis while the BMP signaling pathway is mainly involved in cell differentiation.…”
