Abstract:Nonlinear kinetic structures, called electron phase-space holes (EHs), are regularly observed in space and experimental magnetized plasmas. The existence of EHs is conditioned and varies according to the ambient magnetic field and the parameters of the electron beam(s) that may generate them. The objective of this paper is to extend the 3D Bernstein–Greene–Kruskal model with cylindrical geometry developed by L.-J. Chen et al. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
