Abstract

The aim of this study was to document the epidemiological, clinical and evolutionary profile of autoimmune bullous dermatoses in hospitals in Togo. Patients and Method: This is a retrospective study on the files of patients seen in consultation and/or hospitalization in 4 dermatology public services from january 2010 to december 2018. Results: During the period of our study, 79 cases (0.16%) of the 50.847 patients seen had suffered from autoimmune bullous dermatoses. The mean age of the patients was 45 ± 24.6 years with a sex ratio of 0.9. Patients aged 40 to 59 (30.4%) and those aged 60 years and over (29.1%) were the most affected. Pemphigus (40.5%) and bullous pemphigoid (22.8%) were the most observed. Treatment was mainly based on systemic corticosteroid therapy (65.8%). We recorded 19 cases of complications dominated by bacterial infections, and recorded 2 cases of death. Conclusion: The results of our study show that autoimmune bullous dermatoses are rare conditions in hospitals in Togo and are dominated by pemphigus and bullous pemphigoid. They are not very fatal but associated with essentially infectious complications.
