(4-Chloromethyl-4-hydroxy-3-phenylthiazolidin-2-ylidene)ammonium chloride acetone solvate

Abstract: At 150 K, the title compound, C10H12ClN2OS+·Cl−·C3H6O, exists as discrete hydrogen‐bonded [2 + 2]‐dimers of cations and chloride anions. Of the two possible thiazolidin‐2‐ylideneammonium cations that may be formed by the reaction of 1,3‐dichloroacetone with N‐phenylthiourea, the reported isomer is unable to eliminate water to form the corresponding thiazole.
