5. Albumin and Globulin Levels of Sumatran Elephants’ (Elephas maximus sumatranus) Blood at Elephant Conservation Center of Saree, Aceh Besar

Abstract: This research was done to determine albumin and globulin levels of Sumatran elephants’ blood at the Elephant Conservation Center (ECC) of Saree, Aceh Besar. In this study blood samples were collected from 6 Sumatran elephants at the ECC. The levels of albumin and globulin were determined spectrophotometrically. The data obtained were analyzed by t-test. The results showed that the average levels of albumin and the globulin of Sumatran elephants were 4, 25±0, 31 g/dL and 2, 33±0, 62 g/dL. Blood albumin and glob… Show more

“…When albumin levels are low, the protein-bound fraction of the drug decreases, which can lead to undesirable pharmacological side effects 1 . Globulins are blood proteins that help the immune system by transporting steroid hormones, lipids, and the fibrinogen system in the bloodstream and aiding in the regulation of blood circulation 14 .…”

“…According to hospital malnutrition have hypoalbuminemia, or blood albumin levels of less than 3.5 g/dL. 2 Globulins are blood proteins that help the immune system and transport steroid hormone systems, lipids, and fibrinogens, which help blood clotting and regulate circulatory function 3 . Alpha globulins, beta globulins, gamma globulins, macroglobulins, and transcobalamins are various types of globulins that operate as circulatory ions, fatty acids in the immune system, and antibodies 4 .…”
