57‐2: Invited Paper: Latest Development of High‐performance OLED Material Suitable for Printing

Abstract: We will present the latest status of high performance OLED material development based on our conjugated polymer technology. The material is very suitable for printing OLED panel fabrication. We also show the comparison of the performance between ink-jet (IJ) and spin devices, and its theoretical fundamentals to obtain high performance in IJ printing.

“…As reported, the lifetime of red QLED has well exceeded 3000 h 11,12,14,15 ; green devices are behind but still capable of 1000 h 14 ; blue QLED is the worst among the three, delivering lifetime just over 20 h 12,14,16 . Comparing with a rival technology, e.g., printed organic light-emitting diodes (OLED), QLED is far behind because inkjet-printed OLED have reached LT95 ( L 0 = 1000 cd m −2 ) of 7000 h for red, 9000 h for green, and 500 h for blue 17,18 .…”

“…For years development of inkjet OLED material, the performance of efficiency of inkjet OLED has been improved to a requirement level. [6][7] Beside the efficiency, the most important for inkjet OLED is the lifetime. Comparing to the thermal evaporation OLED, the inkjet OLED still shows poor lifetime.…”

“…The inkjet printing (IJP) process based on solution-processable OLED materials is a very attractive technology because it has a high material usage rate and simple OLEDs structure, which allow the process to bring down the material costs for large-size panel fabrication. For the material development, the solutionprocessable OLED material performance has reached the product level [1][2]. For the panel development, the panel size of a 14-inch and the 65-inch panel were produced by the IJP process [3][4].…”
