LED street lamps have advantages of energy‐efficient and low maintenance or long lifetime. Furthermore, single‐LED street light systems have the advantages of easy assembly and modularized optics over LED‐array ones, but of less degree of design freedom. Thus, only if the heat dissipation and optical constraint are solved, a single‐LED street light can be realized. In this study, the uniformity (max. to min. ratio) of 3.9 was achieved under a 6‐meter‐high illumination and an 18‐by‐18 m2 area, which was lower/better than that of the LED‐array ones of 7. Besides, the freeform lens efficiency of the single‐LED optics was as high as 85%.
