Abstract

Background: Assessment of neonatal illness severity is important for quality of care control, unbiased NICU performance comparisons, management studies and rationale use of resources. Emerging evidence indicates that the analysis of heart rate dynamics may provide valuable practical diagnostic and prognostic information.
