6MVA single-phase APF for high speed train line in Korea

Abstract: In Korea, a high speed train called as KTX (Korea Train eXpress) has started the revenue service since 2004. For KTX train, the current feed thyristor based on converter and inverter system is used as a traction system. So it is the source of the massive harmonics, and makes worse the power factor of the railway power line. Therefore it is needed the compensator or harmonic filter to improve the power quality of the railway power systems. In this paper, the 6 MVA single-phase active power filter for high speed… Show more

“…Most research has focused on the following issues: power quality, negative sequence current, harmonics and reactive power. For example, static VAR compensators [115], active power filters [116] and static synchronous compensators [117] were studied to mitigate the aforementioned issues. Additionally, ref.…”

“…The corresponding β-axis variables can be obtained by transport delay [20], all pass filter [21] or second-order generalised integrator [22] and so on. Synchronous vectors sin ωt and cos ωt are needed in the coordinate transformation and they are obtained through (6). The dq-axis variables in SRF can be calculated in (7).…”

“…Some compensators based on electronic converters are put forward in the AC electric railway systems. Kyoung-Min et al [6] proposed an active power filter (APF) containing a multi-winding transformer, and each winding fed an H-bridge converter. Sijia et al [7] presented an integrated hybrid railway power quality control system, it needed the traction transformer trapped to reduce the voltage, and make it fit for a hybrid compensator.…”

“…In recent years, despite the fact that different methods presented to eliminate these problems, none has fully addressed them. Various types of balanced structured ERN transformers (Huang et al, 2006; Mazin and Xu, 2009), flexible alternating current transmission system-based static equipment such as Static VAR Compensator (SVC), thyristor-switched capacitor (TSC) and thyristor-controlled reactor (TCR) (Baseri et al, 2011; Hasanvand and Zamani, 2018; Jianzong et al, 2009), Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) (Sadeghi and Fazel, 2010), passive and active filters (Dash and Ray, 2009; Kwon et al, 2014), hybrid active filters (Tan et al, 2004a) are among the most important solutions. However, due to the weaknesses of primary controllers in confronting all power quality (PQ) issues, the need for a comprehensive compensator was always a concern of experts.…”
