8-Hydroxyquinolinate-Based Metal–Organic Frameworks: Synthesis, Tunable Luminescent Properties, and Highly Sensitive Detection of Small Molecules and Metal Ions

Abstract: 5), were assembled by using a novel 8-hydroxyquinolinate derivative H 2 L with different metal ions. Complex 1 features a 3D porous network consisting of meso-helical chains (P + M) built from metal−ligand coordination bonds. The adjacent dinuclear Zn II building blocks in 2 are connected together to generate a 2D grid network. In complex 3, each binuclear motif is bound to four Zn II ions to produce a 2D layer structure that stacks into a 3D porous structure. The framework of complex 4 is isostructural to 5, … Show more

“…However, it is still a great challenge to obtain a target MOF with a predesigned structure and desirable properties. Many factors, such as the coordination geometry of metal centres, the structure of the organic ligands, ISSN 2053ISSN -2296 # 2020 International Union of Crystallography pH value, metal-ligand ratios and temperature (Zhao et al, 2019e), may affect the synthesis process and contribute to the final structural diversities. Among these factors, the organic linkers that coordinate with suitable metal centres are important in determining the structures and properties of MOFs.…”

“…These residues cause serious diseases of cataracts, anemia, cancer, and abnormal liver function. [122][123][124][125] The National Environmental Protection Agency already listed explosives as environmental pollutants, demanding no more than 2 ppb of TNT in water. [126] Many LMOFs have been developed for sensing explosives so far.…”

“…CPs have a diversity of structures since multiple coordination environments of transition metal ions. For example, Zn, Cu, Cd, Ni, and Co can adopt four‐, five‐, or six‐coordinate geometries, leading to the extended CPs from 1D to 3D dimensionality However, CPs based on the transition metal ions without unpaired electrons, especially those with d 10 configurations of Zn/Cd, can yield linker‐based high emission . So, the Zn/Cd‐luminescence coordination polymers were studied for luminescence sensing of the analytes .…”
