“…The increased ionic character was used to explain the ease of aquation of the cobalt(III) azide complex compared with the chromium(III) complexes. On the basis of infrared spectra of various azide complexes of cobalt(III), Staples & Tobe (1960) considered the azide group to be unsymmetrical and linear with the Co-N-N angle between 108 and 120 ° .…”

“…Electronic spectra of the complex salt were recorded in DMSO solution. The visible absorption spectra of the title complex is identical to that of the similar complex cation [16], and this is taken as evidence for isomeric purity. The complex absorbs strongly at 523 and 309 nm, corresponding to transitions [27] þ the central metal cobalt is surrounded by six nitrogen atoms originating from two coordinated ethylenediamines and two azides, resulting in octahedral geometry, as expected.…”

“…cis-Diazidobis(ethylenediamine)cobalt(III)thiocyanate has been synthesized by the reaction of cis-diazidobis(ethylenediamine)cobalt(III)nitrate with ammonium thiocyanate, as reported in the literature [16]. The composition of the complex was confirmed (17) 87.51 (7) N(5A)-N(6A)…”

“…Bands observed in the region of 3400–3000 cm −1 are assigned to asymmetric and symmetric NH 3 stretching vibrations, These vibrations appears weaker due to the formation of N−H…O bond and effect of counter ion (4‐np, and 3‐np). Strong absorption band in the region of 2030–2060 cm −1 is assigned to azide . Bands present in the region of 1590–1550 and 1350–1300 cm −1 is assigned to the NO 2 asymmetric and symmetric vibrations.…”
