Abstract

In addition, it has been proved that 3-substituted cyclobutane carboxylic acid derivatives exhibit anti-inflammatory and antidepressant activities Jaen et al. 1990 and also liquid crystal properties (Tsuji et al. 1994).In this study, we present the results of a detailed investigation of the synthesis and structural characterization of a N- [4-(3methyl-3-phenyl-cyclobutyl)-thiazol-2-yl]-N´-thiophen-2ylmethylene-Chloro-acetic acid hydrazide (NNT2CAH) compound by using single crystal X-ray diffraction, IR and NMR spectroscopy and quantum chemical methods. The geometrical parameters, fundamental frequencies and GIAO 1 H and 13 C NMR chemical shift values of the title compound in the ground state have been calculated by using the B3LYP method. A comparison of the experimental and theoretical spectra can be very useful in making correct assignments and understanding the basic chemical shift-
