Abstract:Background: In chronic alcoholics, continuous heavy drinking leads to progression of alcoholic liver disease (ALD) from alcoholic fatty liver, hepatitis to cirrhosis. Strict abstinence from alcohol has its own limitations and there is paucity of promising drugs available to treat ALD.
