Abstract: The reaction of diazotization of 2,4-diamino-5,10-dioxo-1,5,10,10atetrahydrobenz[g]quinoline-3-carbonitrile (1) afforded 4-amino-2-(chlorodiazenyl)-5,10dioxo-1,5,10,10a-tetrahydrobenzo[g]quinoline-3-carbonitrile (2) as a versatile building block for the design and synthesis of some novel benzo[g]quinolone systems.
