Abstract:The stresses and displacements of a thick conical shell with varying thickness under nonuniform internal pressure have been calculated analytically using third-order shear deformation theory. The governing equations, which are a system of differential equations with variable coefficients, have been solved analytically with the matched asymptotic expansion of the perturbation theory. The effects of higherorder approximations on the radial and axial displacements, von Mises stress, and shear stress have been stu… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
