Abstract: The 1956 adaptation for children of Taylor's Manifest Anxiety Scale, the Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale, was revised to meet current psychometric standards. A 73-item revision draft was administered to 329 school children from grades 1 to 12. Based on item-analysis criteria for rbis > or = .4 and .30 < or = p < or = .70, 28 anxiety items were retained along with 9 of the original 11 Lie scale items. A cross-validation sample of 167 children from grades 2, 5, 9, 10, and 11 produced a KR20 reliability estimat… Show more

“…The total score, which is a sum of symptoms of physiological anxiety, worry, and concentration difficulties, was used. This measure was cross-validated with multiple groups by predicting scores on the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory for Children (Reynolds and Richmond 1997). In the current study, this scale had good reliability (α=0.84; α AA =0.83, α C =0.86, W=1.21, p=0.09).…”

The CMAS is a widely used instrument that evaluates physiological, emotional, and cognitive symptoms of anxiety in youth from 6 to 19 years of age and has shown good reliability and validity in previous studies (Kendall & Suveg, 2006).…”
