Abstract: The concurrent validity of the Leiter International Performance Scale (Leiter) and Leiter International Performance Scale-Revised (Leiter-R) was examined in a sample of children with autism who could not be assessed with more traditional measures of intelligence (e.g., the Wechsler scales). The sample consisted of 26 children ranging in age from 4 to 16 years. The correlation between the Leiter scales was high (r = .87), and there was a difference of 3.7 points between the two mean scores, nonsignificant at bo… Show more

“…The Leiter-R Brief IQ is comprised of four subscales: Figure Ground, Form Completion, Sequential Order, and Repeated Patterns. The psychometric properties of the Leiter-R Brief IQ are excellent, with Cronbach's alphas ranging from 0.75-0.88 across subtests and support for concurrent validity (Tsatsanis et al, 2003; Hooper & Bell, 2006). The Leiter-R has been used extensively to characterize cognitive ability in populations with intellectual disabilities, including FXS (e.g., Glenn & Cunningham, 2005; Hooper et al, 2000; Skinner et al, 2005).…”

“…The ADOS is an objective test that is regarded as the standard for autism classification (Falkmer, Anderson, Falkmer, & Horlin, 2013; Lord et al, 1999). The Leiter-R is an objective nonverbal test of cognitive abilities that has been used for testing children with autism (Grondhuis & Mulick, 2013; Shah & Holmes, 1985; Tsatsanis et al, 2003). The Reynell Developmental Language Scales is another objective test designed to evaluate both expressive and receptive language in young children, including those with autism (Kaale, Fagerland, Martinsen, & Smith, 2014; Kjellmer et al, 2012; Reynell & Gruber, 1990).…”
