Abstract: Umbelliferone is a widely occurring phenolic compound of plant origin, for which many biological activities against chronic diseases have been reported. A comparative study of HPLC and HPTLC method has been developed for the quantitation of umbelliferone from dry tuber powder of Ipomoea mauritiana Jacq.
