Abstract: Preservatives are added to pharmaceuticals to ensure safety and shelf life. A number of Essential oil components are identified as effective antimicrobials. The antimicrobial activity is assessed of pure oils. Oils were evaluated based on Refractive index, Specific gravity and Antimicrobial activity.
