Abstract: Aim: The major scope of the work is to find best suitable conditions and process for the preparation of sulfa drug where the yield can be maximum with reduced periods. Materials and Methods: Sulfathiazole is prepared by chlorosulfonation of acetanilide (at 114°C) to obtain an intermediate which is reacted with 2-aminothiazole. The samples of intermediate and 2-aminothiazole with ratios (3:1, 1:1, and 1:3) and with different acid acceptors named pyridine, sodium bicarbonate, dimethylaniline, and ammonium hydrox… Show more

“…22 In the second step, acetanilide was added to chlorosulfonic acid and stirred at room temperature to generate 4-acetamidobenzene-1-sulfonyl chloride. 23 Finally, the newly synthesized benzimidazoles (0.01 mmol) were treated with 4-acetamidobenzene-1-sulfonyl chloride in the presence of sodium hydroxide to produce the final compounds. 24…”

“…The process related to the development of reduction methodologies involving the reduction of nitro compounds to medicinally important amide formation is always in demand. Amide derivatives are known for various applications in agro- and pharmacy-related industries for making various surfactants, pesticides, polymers, dye precursors, and medicines. , For instance, acetanilide ( N -phenylacetamide) is used to produce 4-acetamidobenzene sulfonyl chloride (used for manufacturing sulfa drugs), paracetamol, and many more medicinally important drugs. However, their synthetic methodologies require two-step reduction of nitrobenzene to aniline, followed by acetylation for its preparation, which makes the reduction of nitro derivatives a multistep-complicated task.…”
