A Bio-inspired knowledge system for improving combined cycle plant control tuning

Abstract: This study presents a novel bio-inspired knowledge system, based on closed loop tuning, for calculating the Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller parameters of a real combined cycle plant. The aim is to automatically achieve the best parameters according to the work point and the dynamics of the plant. To this end, several typical expressions and systems were taken into account to build the model for this multidisciplinary study. Each of these expressions is appropriated for a particular system. Th… Show more

“…For example, a use of QCM [15] to control the oil degradation is explained in [9]. Other papers like [8] and [23] use the vibration analysis to monitor a self-levitating bearing. The monitoring task of solar thermal fluid transfer systems is carried out using Neural Network based models and rule based techniques in [24].…”

“…Intelligent Systems are being used to solve or optimize several problems on engineering fields nowadays [7,6]. Some researches have been made with the aim of improving a system performance, because classical methods, like the applications based on PID controller [2], are not capable of solving this task.…”

“…The correct detection of such types of unusual information empowers the decision maker with the capacity to act on the system in order to correctly avoid, correct, or react to the situations associated with them. Anomaly detection has extensive use in a wide variety of applications such as fraud and intrusion detection [1], fault detection in safety critical systems [2], finance [3] or industrial systems (see [4,5] for surveys on this topic).…”

“…While in closed systems, a central trusting entity ensures privacy through an exhaustive control of identities and information exchanges, in open systems this trusting responsibility lies with participants. This is the case of distributed and open systems, often implemented as a collection of bio-inspired knowledge systems such as [2], also called agents. Interactions may then have the final intention of propagating reputation of agents in order to decide which agent to trust in.…”
