A case of breast cancer metastasizing to cervix after resection of pancreatic metastasis

Abstract: A case of breast cancer that metastasized to the cervix 10 years and 8 months after mastectomy is reported. The patient had undergone pancreaticoduodenectomy due to solitary metastasis to the head of the pancreas 4 years previously. The cervical metastasis was associated with abnormal genital bleeding. After pancreaticoduodenectomy the serum levels of CEA, CA15-3 and NCC-ST-439, which are markers of breast cancer, were within normal limits, but the serum level of CA15-3 had increased month by month. The total number of patients covered in these reports was 45 for gastric cancer, 36 for breast cancer, 36 for ovarian cancer and 19 for colorectal cancer.…”

“…It has been reported that ILC metastasizes to organs such as the pancreas, uterus, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, reproductive organs and the retroperitoneum after a long disease-free interval [17]. In contrast, our patient with PLC had a fairly rapid recurrence, highlighting the potential significant difference in the underlying biology of these two tumors.…”

“…It is thought that oxygen tension in the ovaries and other metabolic features make it a preferred site for metastatic disease. It is reported that the cervix is a less usual site because of the smallness of the organ, not abundant blood supply and having just one afferent drainage system 7,8 .…”
