A case of COVID-19 and pneumonia returning from Macau in Taiwan: Clinical course and anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG dynamic

Abstract: 4A 46-year-old woman presented to the emergency department with 2-day fever and 5 cough at seven days after returning from Macau. COVID-19 and pneumonia was 6 diagnosed based on the positive real-time RT-PCR tests for oropharyngeal swab 7 samples and the presence of anti-SARS-COV-2 IgG starting from the illness day 11 8 and post-exposure 18-21 days. 9

“…We included articles available up to May 1 2020 that contained data that could be used for the analyses in this study. This resulted in a final subset containing 19 peer-reviewed articles and two preprints ( Yongchen et al, 2020 ; Du et al, 2020 ; To et al, 2020 ; Wölfel et al, 2020 ; Okba et al, 2020 ; Zhao et al, 2020 ; Haveri et al, 2020 ; Xiao et al, 2020 ; Jiang et al, 2020 ; Lee et al, 2020 ; Liu et al, 2020a ; Long et al, 2020 ; Lou et al, 2020 ; Thevarajan et al, 2020 ; Xiang et al, 2020 ; Zhang et al, 2020a ; Zhou et al, 2020 ; Young et al, 2020 ; Zhang et al, 2020b ; Liu et al, 2020b ; Zhang et al, 2020c ; Adams et al, 2020 ; Zou et al, 2020 ). Note that initial article selection sample sizes are approximate due to the way in which Google Scholar reports the number of results.…”

“…Further modifications of LAMP-based procedures have been reported, which can reduce the testing time with minimum equipment requirements [54,55]. To develop serological procedures, IgA and IgM have been evaluated against SARS-CoV-2 by immunofluorescence assays [56][57][58]. However, further refining of RT-PCR and the serological procedures are required to improve the sensitivity and specificity.…”

“…Immunoglobulin G (IgG) and immunoglobulin M (IgM) are known antibodies for monitoring humoral immune responses to infections by viruses such as SARS-CoV-2. [18][19][20][21][22][23][24] Because of their convenience and cost-efficiency, new serological assays of IgG and IgM antibodies have been recognised as a promising diagnostic tool to complement viral nucleic acid screening in the atrisk populations. 25 Of note, IgG/IgM seroconversion can be observed in many patients after their infections with SARS-CoV-2, 4,18,20,23,26 and serological responses are associated with disease severity.…”
