Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) are acid-fast bacilli (AFB) other than Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium leprae, and are divided into rapidly growing mycobacteria (RGM) and slowly growing mycobacteria (SGM) based on their growth rate.
