A Case of EBV-related Inflammatory Pseudotumor-like Follicular Dendritic Cell Tumor

Abstract

Departments of Surgery 1) and Diagnostic Pathology 2) , Chubu Rosai Hospital The patient was A 69-year-old woman. Ten years earlier, she had undergone surgery for left breast cancer, with no subsequent relapse. We incidentally found a low-density splenic tumor. No malignant tumors were seen in screening of other sites, so the tumor was believed to represent breast cancer metastasis or protopathic spleen tumor. No conclusive diagnosis was possible from imaging, so to reach a histopathological diagnosis and perform treatment, splenectomy was performed. The pathology results led to a diagnosis of EBV-related inflammatory pseudotumor-like follicular dendritic cell tumor. EBV-related inflammatory pseudotumor-like follicular dendritic cell tumor is a rare tumor that is occasionally reported. This paper reports our experience with a case of EBV-related inflammatory pseudotumor-like follicular dendritic cell tumor.
