A Case of Spondylodiscitis due to Bacteroides Fragilis in Febrile Patient With Past Thoracic Vertebral Trauma

Abstract: Spondylodiscitis caused by Bacteroides fragilis in an uncommon finding. We report a case of spondylodiscitis due to Bacteroides fragilis in a febrile young patient with history of previous trauma to the back. Sub-acute appendicitis was considered the portal of entry of infection. The patient was febrile but did not complain spinal pain. 2-[ 18 F]fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) was very useful in the diagnosis of this pathology.
