A Case of Syphilitic Eruption Determined by the Administration of Bromide of Potassium

Abstract

At the wrists the sUin becatne greatly thickened-almost hido-like, wiib tbe natural lines and folds very marked, and in coloui-a dusky red. On the dorsal surfaces of hands and fingers the same thick appearances ]ireA\ailed. The palmar surfaces presented another very striking picture (seo Fig. 3). Over fingers and palms alike the hyperkeratosis was extreme, assutning a warty appearance Avith well-marked fissuring along tbe natui-al lines and folds. The nails Avere normal in appearance and growth.Lower extreviities.-The thighs, legs, and popliteal spaces showed tho generalised thickening of fcbe skin and sbgbt prominence of tbe papilhc, bnt no corny formation at any part, and no apparent erytbrodermia. Tho soles of the feet Avere practicall}" normal in appearance. The lanngo hairs on tho body wore baroly porcoptible.In tbo case described by Mackee and Rosen the erytbroderuiia and hyperkeratosis assumed an irregular gyrato configuration differing from this caso in which these conditions were uniform and absolutely symmetrical.
