Abstract:Drug-induced thrombotic microangiopathy (DITMA) is a life-threatening condition which may be immune or nonimmune mediated. Quinine is the most implicated drug in immune-mediated DITMA. However, the optimal treatment is unclear. Complement inhibition by eculizumab has demonstrated success in many DITMA (e.g., carfilzomib, gemcitabine, and tacrolimus), but there are limited data in DITMA, including quinine-associated cases. A 55-year-old female was diagnosed with quinine-associated thrombotic microangiopathy (TM… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
