A Case Report of Solitary Median Maxillary Central Incisor Reported in Tehsil Headquarter Hospital, Gujjar Khan, Pakistan

Abstract

Solitary median maxillary central incisor is a rare dental anomaly and a complex disorder consisting of multiple mainly midline defects of development. In SMMCI, only one central incisor is present, and it develops exactly at the midline. It results from unknown factors(s) operating in utero. Early diagnosis and recognition of SMMCI are important for all practicing dentists, as it may be a sign of other severe congenital or developmental abnormalities. This case report discusses important aspects of SMMCI and presents a clinical case of a 2-year-old female patient of single median maxillary central incisor with missing maxillary and mandibular frena, along with brain growth retardation in Tehsil Headquarter Hospital, Gujjar Khan, Pakistan. Aligned with the literature early diagnosis and correction of SMMCI is of prime importance as the condition is associated with developmental problems. Moreover, the case should be managed by a multidisciplinary team of health professionals to ensure optimum health-related outcomes. Keywords: Solitary, median, maxillary, central incisor, case report
