“…It is a rare presentation of reactive polyarthritis, without mycobacterial involvement of the joint. After infection, as a result of systemic immunization, sensitized CD4+ cells together with bacterial antigens migrate to the joints and cause arthritis (Sharma et al, 2016). In the case presented herein, the positive cultures eventually ruled out Poncet's disease.…”

“…In a recent series of more than 50 patients with musculoskeletal tuberculosis from a tertiary care center, 38 patients had mono‐ or oligoarthritis, most commonly involving knees and ankles, a distribution similar to sarcoid arthritis. In another series of 23 patients with Poncet's arthritis, which is a sterile form of reactive arthritis in response to tuberculosis elsewhere, similar proportions of patients had oligoarthritis and polyarthritis …”

“…Both these diseases can present with oligoarthritis or polyarthritis. Articular involvement in tuberculosis can be a direct invasion of the synovium or a reactive process to active infection elsewhere . In a recent series of more than 50 patients with musculoskeletal tuberculosis from a tertiary care center, 38 patients had mono‐ or oligoarthritis, most commonly involving knees and ankles, a distribution similar to sarcoid arthritis.…”
