Based on the research at developing country, 30 to 40% of natural resources were exploited by construction industry which are 50% of energy be used for heating and cooling the building. If energy demand can be reduced or industry delayed, energy usage will be reduced. As a result, that energy consumption guideline must be established to control the usage of energy. The objective of this research is to know the energy consumption and intensity at construction industry. For this research, it will focus on the specification of the project site based on contract sum, location, and environment before know on how to reduce energy. The case study for this research covers several high-rise building construction industries. Selected data have been taken from the case study which are manpower, energy used, plant machinery and master work program. All the data given have been analyst and come out with their total floor area result have been tabulated. Technically, construction can be divided into six stages which are initial construction, coordination, implementation, critical, testing and commissioning and handover stage. At the end of the research, a new method to measure Energy Consumption Guideline for Building Construction Industry have been established.

With the advancement of Industrial Revolution 4.0, the trend of global energy consumption seen to be rising and one of the largest energy utilisers is from the commercial building sector. In respecting to the Paris Agreement 2015 to reduce the greenhouse gases, various efforts and measures have been taken by the Malaysian authorities in ensuring the usage of energy in efficient ways especially in government owned buildings and one of the measurements is by introducing the Energy Efficient Building’s Star Ratings. Therefore, this paper intends to explore and present a case study of a two-year energy consumption and its pattern at Lestari Building, Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM). For this study, data such as gross floor area of Lestari Building, total electricity consumption, maximum demand for the Lestari building were obtained from January 2019 up to December 2020 using the desktop audit method. The obtained results have been analysed and presented in terms of cost of electrical consumption, building energy intensity (BEI) and energy label for the Lestari building according to the National Building Energy Labelling Standard. Based on the study conducted, Lestari Building obtained a 3-Star rating for the year 2020 in comparison to the year 2019 with just a 2-Star rating. In conclusion, several strategies for further improvement of the energy efficiency and building performance were also suggested in this paper such as the introduction of PIR sensors in the parking lot of Lestari building.

Induction motors have become essential part in motor-driven machinery industries. However, the inability to regulate the speed of the load can present significant challenges in terms of machinery maintenance and energy consumption. This paper simulates and proposes a solution for the induction motor speed control which implements an inverter consisting of a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) system using Matlab software. The aim is to analyze the impact of adding a VFD circuit to a three-phase motor system in terms of its starting current and speed. A VFD is highly beneficial for electric motors as it can optimize motor speed based on the specific requirements or desired speed settings. The method involves the uses of power electronic devices such as IGBT components. By controlling the duration of on-off time and the width of the pulse, a desired frequency can be obtained. By varying the frequency of the power supply to the motor, the synchronous speed can be controlled to the required value. Simulation results demonstrate that a circuit with a variable frequency drive (VFD) drastically reduces starting current, effectively minimizing power losses during motor start-up. Comparative analysis reveals that the VFD, the starting current surge to approximately 9A, a significant improvement compared to the 50A spike observed without the VFD. Additionally, the motor speed remains consistent in both scenarios, suggesting that the VFD does not adversely affect the motor's speed, which is 1490 rpm, while maintaining the voltage and current supplied to the load. The findings highlight the benefits of using a VFD in the motor system to improve energy efficiency and minimize power losses during operation.
