A catalogue of quasars and active nuclei: 12th edition

Abstract: Aims. This catalogue is aimed at presenting a compilation of all known AGN in a compact and convenient form and we hope that it will be useful to all workers in this field. Methods. Like the eleventh edition, it includes position and redshift as well as photometry (U, B, V) and 6 cm flux densities when available. We now give 20 cm rather than 11 cm flux densities.Results. The present version contains 85 221 quasars, 1122 BL Lac objects and 21 737 active galaxies (including 9628 Seyfert 1s), almost doubling the… Show more

“…We assume now that all AGN emit UHECR and chose from the 12th VCV catalogue [22] all AGN closer than 2.5 Mpc to M87 as sources. Within this distance there are 13 additional AGN and many of them are outside the core of the Virgo cluster in regions with low magnetic fields.…”

“…Arrival directions of UHECRs under consideration are illustrated in Fig. 1 in supergalactic coordinates using Hammer-Aitoff projection, together with celestial positions of AGN from the catalog [2], with redshifts z < 0.018.…”

“…In the first one the sky was divided into the "on-source" and "off-source" regions. Two choices were considered for the on-source region: (i) ±30 • from the supergalactic plane and (ii) 11 • around the nearby active galactic nuclei from the VCV catalog [16]. In both cases the spectra were fitted separately for the on-and off-source regions with a broken power law, yielding the break energy E b and two power indices α 1 and α 2 before and after the break, respectively.…”
