A centrosymmetric triply alkoxo-bridged titanium-μ2-O-zirconium tetranuclear complex: [TiZr(μ2-O2-O′-methyliminodiethanolate)(μ2-O-n-propanolate)2(n-propanolate)2.7(isopropanolate)1.3]2

Abstract: The centrosymmetric tetranuclear title compound, bis(methyliminodiethanolato)dodecapropanolatodititaniumdizirconium, [Ti2Zr2(C3H7O)12(C5H11NO2)2], has a zigzag TiZr2Ti arrangement including novel triple‐oxo Ti⋯Zr bridges. The methyliminodiethanolate ligand is bound to the zirconium in a meridional configuration, with the ethanolate O atoms bridging both the Ti⋯Zr and Zr⋯Zr centres. Two n‐propanolate O atoms provide the other two Ti⋯Zr bridges. The remaining propanolate ligands are attached to either Z… Show more

“…This could be an indication of the existence of Ti-O-Zr bonds. There are some papers which support these assumptions [20][21][22]. Starting from a mixture of zirconium isopropoxide, titanium isopropoxide and different organic additives, the formation of heterometallic zirconium titanium precursors with different structures was shown.…”

“…The in literature available heterometallic titanium-zirconium precursors [20,21] are considered less suitable compared to the one presented in this paper. They have (different) alkoxide groups attached to both the zirconium and titanium, what again can be a disadvantage due to the different reactivities.…”

“…Several structures were reported by Kemmitt's group in the early 2000s [97,98] , and DEA, where the two titanium centers where connected to the nonacoordinated Zr 4+ via bridging DEA ligands [101]. In a subsequent publication, this complex was successfully utilized as a SSP for production of essentially pure microporous srilankite (ZrTi 2 O 6 ) (Fig.…”
