A Circular Sector With an Inverted L Shaped Monopole Antenna for Tri-Band Applications

Abstract: In this paper, a quarter circular sector with an inverted L shaped monopole antenna for tri-band applications is proposed. The antenna is designed from a U shaped ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna. The number of higher-order modes, each with wide bandwidth, gets excited in a monopole, which electromagnetically couple to provide UWB. In the proposed tri-band antenna the electromagnetic coupling between higher-order modes is reduced by selectively removing the symmetrical portion and decreasing the thickness of the U… Show more

“…Several designs of planar inverted-L/inverted-F antennas with usable frequencies have been reported [6]- [11]. Some of the techniques used to design the planar inverted-L/inverted-F antenna reported so far include a quarter-circle sector with an inverted L-shaped monopole antenna for tri-band applications [6], Multiple bands are generated using a cactusshaped patch, consisting of inverted L-shaped slots and L-shaped branches [7], A miniaturized Rectangular Monopole Antenna (RMA) integrated with T-shaped stub, inverted long and short L-shaped stub resonators based on the application of Characteristic Mode theory (CM) were investigated for multiband operation [8], a compact Ultra-Wideband (UWB) antenna with an antenna structure, i.e. two open-ended inverted L-shaped slots carved into a square ground plane [9], then in [10], a proposed an inverted-F-printed dual-band antenna with a nested structure, and a dual-band capacitive paired planar inverted F antenna [11].…”

“…Recently, many researchers are working on PILA antennas. A compact Triple-band PILA antenna is proposed [6], to cover the frequency range of the 2.1-2.485 GHz band for Bluetooth (2.402-2.482 GHz), 3G, Wi-Fi (2,400-2.483 GHz), LTE 2300 (2.305-2.400 GHz), 5.05-5.67 GHz band for WLAN applications, and 8.4-9.0 GHz band for applications in the X-band with the proposed antenna geometry shown in Figure 1(a). The antenna structure consists of a quarter-circle sector and a rectangular inverted L strip.…”

“…20,21 Printed monopole antenna is another good candidate for multiband antenna design due to its flexibility in branch loading. In Khade et al 22 and Sumanji et al, 23 a circular sector and an inverted L-Shaped branch were loaded on the printed monopole antenna to achieve multiband operating frequency. The monopole antenna with symmetrical trident was used in Chatterjee et al 24 and the monopole antenna with meandered branches was presented in Bohari et al 25 An L-shaped slot and four branches of different sizes were utilized to realize four frequency regions in Brar et al 26 Since the printed monopole antenna has the features of low cost, low profile, and easy integration with other devices, three multiband antennas are designed on the basis of monopole antenna in this letter for coal mine application, each of which can cover the commercial 5G NR (2.51-2.67 GHz, 3.40-3.60 GHz, 4.80-4.90 GHz), Mobile/Unicom/Telecom 4G full-band of China (1.88-2.66 GHz), WiFi (2.40-2.48 GHz), and WiMAX (2.50-2.69 GHz) simultaneously.…”
