Abstract:Following fertilization and fallopian tube transit, the blastocyst normally implants in the endometrial lining of the uterine cavity. An ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized ovum implants outside the normal uterine cavity. Fortunately, beta-human chorionic gonadotropin (β-hCG) assays and transvaginal sonography (TVS) aid earlier diagnosis, maternal survival, and fertility conservation.
