A cloud computing based 12-lead ECG telemedicine service

Abstract: BackgroundDue to the great variability of 12-lead ECG instruments and medical specialists’ interpretation skills, it remains a challenge to deliver rapid and accurate 12-lead ECG reports with senior cardiologists’ decision making support in emergency telecardiology.MethodsWe create a new cloud and pervasive computing based 12-lead Electrocardiography (ECG) service to realize ubiquitous 12-lead ECG tele-diagnosis.ResultsThis developed service enables ECG to be transmitted and interpreted via mobile phones. That… Show more

“…In DSS healthcare, data mining could provide an added value for the enrichment of the knowledge base of the healthcare system, diagnosis support, home-based rehabilitation, optimal management of healthcare processes, optimization of the quality of services, correct allocation of material and non-material resources, turnover prediction, and definition of new performance indicators based on artificial intelligence algorithms [5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]. In healthcare systems, an interesting topic is homecare assistance by telemedicine [14][15][16], allowing home assistance through the use of appropriate certified devices connected to the cloud and able to transmit patient measurements from home to an external structure behaving as a control room. In this direction, ANN could predict patient physiological status [17], could be applied for predictive medicine [18], and for the prediction of heart problems [19], suggesting ANN as a good approach to predict patient health status in DSS.…”

“…The recognition that technology can improve patient care while reducing costs has meant that governments are willing to push the traditionally slow healthcare industry to a faster pace of adoption. In [21], the authors pointed out that, based on Azures pricing model, the cost of their cloud-based telemedicine service is based on the use of CPU resources, which is charged by USD $ 0.12 per hour, and the use of database, which is charged by USD $9.99 per GB per month. Dudley and his colleagues [22] demonstrated that cloud computing is a viable and cheaper technology that enables large-scale integration and analysis for studies in genomic medicine.…”

“…It allows anyone to run a private Galaxy installation on the Cloud exactly replicating functionality of the main site 21 , but without the need to share computing resources with other users. With Galaxy Cloud, unlike software service solutions, the users can customize their deployment as well as retain complete control over their instances and associated data; the analysis can also be moved to other cloud providers or local resources, avoiding concerns about dependence on a single vendor.…”

Servis mogu koristiti i zdravstvene stanice u ruralnim delovima zemlje.…”
