A compact synchrotron-based transmission X-ray microscope

Abstract: A compact transmission X-ray microscope has been designed and implemented based on a cylindrical symmetry around the optical axis that sharply limits the instabilities due to thermal mechanical drift. Identical compact multi-axis closed-loop actuation modules drive different optical components. The design is modular and simplifies the change of individual parts, e.g. the use of different magnification and focusing devices. This compact instrument can be easily transported between laboratory and synchrotron fac… Show more

“…The molten fluids for composites exhibit a stronger shear thinning behavior than that of the polymer matrix within the shear frequency range, which is due to ruptured filler networks. For the filled composites, the solid-like network structure depend on whether interparticle attractions or interactions between the particles and the polymer chains [4][5][6][7] . In either case, the network structure will break with the strain rate field applied to the system.…”

“…Precision positioning, which is key to nanoscale control, measurements, and manufacturing, has wide-ranging applications in both academia and industry [1] , [2] , [3] , including nanotechnology [4] , [5] , [6] , nanometrology [7] , [8] , [9] , bioengineering [10] , semiconductor fabrication [11] , and aerospace [12] . Piezoelectric materials have numerous advantages, such as sub-picometer resolution, long service lifetimes, and compact sizes.…”

“…The Bionanoprobe (BNP) at the Advanced Photon Source (a synchrotron light source providing bright x-ray beams) combines cryogenic sample handling, X-ray fluorescence, tomography, and ptychography into a single instrument. It employs a sample transfer robot and cryogenic sample transfer system which prevents samples from ever leaving a cryogenic state once they are prepared [4]. It also allows rapid exchange of samples, greatly cutting down time spent not collecting data.…”
