A comparative assessment of different techniques for obturation with endoflas in primary molars: An In vivo Study

Abstract: Motor-driven lentulospiral and pluggers were almost equally efficient to fill Endoflas to an optimal level, devoid of voids, and both were considered better compared to NaviTip system.

“…Only six of the clinical studies explicitly aimed at comparing different obturation techniques. [18][19][20][27][28][29] All the included in vitro studies were conducted to compare different obturation methods. 2,3,30,31 Of the 20 included clinical studies, 16 were randomized clinical trials, and four were cross-sectional.…”

“…Grover et al 18 compared a lentulo spiral mounted on a handpiece, pressure syringe, bi-directional spiral, and Pastinject for Endoflas and reported a significantly higher number of overfilled canals with the pressure syringe. Pandranki et al 27 compared a lentulo spiral mounted on a handpiece, Navitip, and plugger with cotton pellet for Endoflas and reported no significant differences between the techniques. Gandhi et al 28 compared disposable syringe, a hand-held lentulo spiral, and Pastinject for Endoflas and reported no significant (Table 1).…”

“…The quality of assessment was done based on the Cochrane database with seven criteria of assessment to have a standardized method. Among the three articles included in this systematic review, two articles (Gandhi et al, 2017;Pandranki et al, 2017) showed a high risk of bias and one article (Vishwanathan et al, 2018) showed a moderate risk of bias. Blinding of personnel and participants was not satisfactory in all the three articles.…”

“…Minor voids were reported with all the three groups. The frequency of voids was more in NaviTip system (46.7%) compared to pluggers (31%) and lentulo spirals (31.1%), but no signi icant difference was found among the study groups (P = 0.208) (Pandranki et al, 2017). Vishwanathan et al (2018) compared two different techniques viz.…”

“…(Memarpour et al, 2013) concluded that NaviTip produced the best results. NaviTips showed poor results when compared to Endodontic Plugger and lentulo spirals when Endo las was used (Pandranki et al, 2017). Khubchandani reported that Navitip controlled voids production and produced the best apical seal (Khubchandani et al, 2017).…”
