A comparative assessment ofin vitrocytotoxic activity and phytochemical profiling ofAndrographis nallamalayanaJ.L.Ellis andAndrographis paniculata(Burm. f.) Nees using UPLC-QTOF-MS/MS approach

Abstract: A comparative study of two Andrographis species have been done, and it was found that Andrographis nallamalayana J.L.Ellis is phytochemically and biologically different from Andrographis paniculata (Burm. f.) Nees.

“…Data demonstrated our formulated mouthwash has an IC 50 value (43.55 mg/mL). The cytotoxicity activity of AP was categorized according to the National Cancer Institute (NCI) guidelines as follows IC 50 ≤ 20 µg/mL is highly toxic, and IC 50 ≥ 500 µg/mL is evaluated as inactive (Goel et al, 2021). Supporting the finding, cytotoxicity analysis of pure compounds (andrographolide,14-deoxyandrographolide, 1 4 -d e o x y -1 2 -h y d r o x y a n d r o g r a p h o l i d e , a n d neoandrographolide) against monocytic leukemia cells (THP-1) resulted to IC 50 values exceeding 100 µg/mL, suggesting the absence of cytotoxic activities (Tan et al, 2017).…”
