A comparative study of contributions to ϵ K in the RS model

Abstract: We contrast the impact of Higgs mediated flavor changing neutral currents on ǫ K in the framework of a warped extra dimension that was recently calculated by Azatov et al. with the older results for Kaluza-Klein gluon induced corrections to that observable. We find that the most stringent constraint on the KK scale for a Higgs field localized on the infrared brane for reasonable additional assumptions comes from KK gluon exchange. In the case of a bulk Higgs field we show that for certain scenarios the Higgs c… Show more

“…In the RS model with custodial protection (RSc), ∆F = 2 operators are generated already at the tree level by the exchange of heavy Kaluza-Klein gluon and electroweak gauge boson modes (see [68] for an extensive phenomenological analysis). Tree level flavour changing couplings of the SM Higgs generate ∆F = 2 transitions as well, but they turn out to be subleading with respect to the aforementioned KK gauge boson contributions [159,160]. In contrast to the LRM studied here, only K −K mixing is dominated by the chirally enhanced Q LR 2 operator generated by KK gluon exchange.…”

“…More recently, it has also been pointed out that models with fermions in the bulk give rise to flavor violation in the couplings of Higgs to SM fermions [31,32], leading to interesting constraints from ÁF ¼ 2 processes and to flavor violating collider signatures such as h ! tc (see also the most recent analysis of [12,33] for further details). Other interesting collider effects like rare top decays t !…”

“…In the kaon system they are also chirally enhanced by a factor of m 2 K /m 2 s . These contributions lead to new CP violating effects in the kaon system, namely the well-measured observable ε K , and result in generic bounds of O(10 − 20 TeV) for the KK gluon mass [23][24][25][26][27][28][29]. To reduce this bound, one must introduce additional structure such as horizontal symmetries [30,31], flavor alignment [32,33], or an extended strong sector [34].…”
