“…Various methods have been used to study the retroperitoneal space.1-7 Recently, we have used visualization of the inferior vena cava to evaluate the retroperitoneal involvement as suggested by others 1,5,6 who have stressed the ease of the procedure. The normal anatomy and abnormal findings have been well described by Sammons et Method We have used a modification of the procedure of Sammons et al 6 Patients were premedicated with 25-50 mg of promethazine (Phenergan) hydrochloride, and 50 mg of meperidine hydrochloride, and nothing was given by mouth for at least 4 hr prior to the examination.…”
